EnviaCoastTM is a novel, polyurethane binder for revetments in coastal areas and stabilization of riverbanks. An open-pored structure that removes the destructive energy of wave run-up. Also used as a submerged breakwater proven to be ideal for marine plant restoration.
EnviaCoastTM makes existing dikes safer without the need to constantly raise them, which is rarely if ever possible given the financial cost and for practical reasons such as lack of space. Here, an open-pored and energy-absorbing top layer prevents the impact energy of the waves from attacking and destroying the surface, creating a higher standard of safety.
Biological studies by the University of Amsterdam have shown that revetments with EnviaCoastTM are colonized by the flora and fauna typical of the site within a few weeks. Unlike conventional, impermeable coastal protection structures, EnviaCoastTM revetments with their cavities also provide additional habitats for flora and fauna.
EnviaCoastTM - Protector for the marine plant restoration. Fishing and tourism lead to a desertification of the seas and thus to a lack of marine plants and fish. In the past, artificial reefs made of concrete were used, but they had no immediate effect. EnviaCoastTM provides a perfect environment for the restoration of marine plants. An EnviaCoastTM block placed on the seabed results in the restoration of plant life after one year. In addition, observations have shown that it leads to the return of fish and marine animals.
United Nations list EnviaCoastTM as one of the new technologies for climate change adaptation.

The Korean government classifies EnviaCoastTM as a NET (New Excellent Technology).
According to the European Chemical Agency's (ECHA) current definition of microplastics, some liquid polymers such as polyurethanes do not belong to this category.
