Sustainability has remained the primary focus throughout the full journey of Pappelina and every decision taken. The BIO EDITION wowen rug was introduced in 2022. This was a substantial step towards carbon neutrality for Pappelina, focusing on circularity and to reduce waste, reuse, and recycle the world’s resources.

The Pappelina BIO EDITION is the first woven rugs made of BIOVYN™ - a bio-sourced PVC.

The concept of a circular economy, aimed at reducing waste and maximizing resource reuse and recycling, resonates with Pappelina. They take great pride in presenting their contribution to circularity and embracing new sustainable material innovation through their BIO EDITION concept. This represents a significant stride towards achieving carbon neutrality.

The company continuously works on development and deepening their understanding of their input materials, including PVC. When their PVC supplier, INOVYN, introduced BIOVYN™ - an innovative material completely free of fossils - Pappelina saw an opportunity to contribute to reducing the CO2 footprint.

s BIOVYN™ is the bio-sourced PVC, crafted from wood-based tall oil. This crude oil is a byproduct of the pulp-making process used in paper production and is sourced responsibly from wood. BIOVYN™ is the next generation of PVC, utilizing 100% renewable feedstock that does not compete with the food chain. Compared to conventionally produced PVC, it delivers a remarkable reduction in carbon footprint,. This makes BIOVYN™ an very sustainable product.

It is important to note that Pappelina's conventional PVC rugs are still a responsible choice. Conventional PVC already boasts a significantly low carbon footprint and is a durable material designed to be used for many years to come.
