Plastic Projects creates aesthetic panels and products in 100% recycled plastic. Virgin plastic is polluting when it’s made, discarded and burned. The company wants to show that recycled plastic can be a beautiful valuable resource and deserve to be recycled.

Plastic Projects creates aesthetic panels and products in 100% recycled plastic.

The company’s society is deeply dependent on plastic but producing 1 kg of plastic require more than 1 litre of oil as raw material and on top of that 2 litre of oil to power the process (Marczak, 2022).

The process emits large amounts of CO2, create plastic waste and release even more fossil CO2 when burned. Unfortunately, only 15% of plastic waste is recycled in EU and Denmark has the second worst recycling rate in the EU (Dakofa, 2016).

Furthermore, plastic product design is out of control, creating wasteful single-use products of poor quality, with stickers and additives from tens of thousands of plastic types, making it hard to have a circular economy.

Plastic Project has developed their own technology to make panels with good quality, pattern control and fully recycled material, while reducing energy consumption by 75%.

The company’s panels are made in Copenhagen from 100% sorted, locally sourced recycled plastic.

Plastic Projects wants to reverse the idea of plastic as waste by using the colours and properties of plastic to create unique material designs. With these pattern designs, the company wants to show their appreciation of plastic as a valuable resource, that deserves to be recycled and strive to promote awareness to further the agenda.

The panels measure 1220 x 810 mm in 2-40 mm thickness and can be used to create furniture, interior and product design with regular woodworking tools. This allow more people to create in recycled plastic, where moulds can be prohibitively expensive.

Plastic is fantastic when used responsibly.
