At Primo's regrinding facilities for greenhouse gutters, the company recycles old gutters and offcuts, transforming them into granulated and powdered plastic. They integrate the re-used and coloured plastic material as the inner part of a new greenhouse gutter.

Greenhouse gutters are greenhouse systems for growing lettuce and herbs directly in the gutter. They are designed as channels to ensure stable watering and direct the water through the gutter from start to finish. These gutters are essential for maintaining proper drainage and preventing water damage to the greenhouse structure. The drainage system is a closed loop system where water is collected, cleaned and reused. This means that less water is used than in open field cultivation.

The redesigned gutter has a specific purpose, which is to make use of gutters that would otherwise be unusable due to damage or age. These gutters are transformed into new raw materials from which new gutters are made.

The inner layer of the gutter can be customised with the customer's preferred colour. The outer layer is deliberately designed to be white to ensure optimum light reflection back into the greenhouse, benefiting plant growth.

At our greenhouse manufacturing site, we have installed useful tools to measure our performance in terms of CO2 reduction: An energy meter counter is installed on each machine and every profile produced is measured. In addition to the energy meter, we reuse our process water in the manufacturing process, which has been made possible by investing in an advanced water recycling system.
